Aliko Dangote was born on April 10, 1957, to an affluent and highly esteemed family. Dangote was raised by Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, his grandfather, who was once the richest man in Africa. He studied business studies and administration at the Al-Azhar University, Kairo. According to several reports, Aliko discovered his passion for business from a very tender age, and many years down the line, he founded the Dangote Group in the year 1977.

The company from inception became a major producer of pasta, flour, and sugar. At the moment, Dangote Group has diversified into many businesses which are all subdivisions of the Dangote Group. They are Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dangote Cement, and Dangote Flour. Dangote Oil Refinery in Ibeju Lekki Lagos is the largest refinery in Africa.

He is currently living in Lagos which the richest state in Nigeria with the richest people in Nigeria.

At the moment, Dangote is worth $8.4 billion and with that amount of money, he is currently the richest man in the entire Continent of Africa as well.
