Dew of Hope Foundation, DFortune partner on back-to-school programme for vulnerable girls

The Dew of Hope Foundation has partnered DFortune Pest Solutions Limited to implement a Back-to-School Support Program for Vulnerable Schoolgirls affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Akwa Ibom State.

The support programme, which will run from October 2020 through September 2021, is a social impact effort to address the high rate of out-of-school teenage girls prevalent in Akwa Ibom State, as validated by relevant reports and studies.

It is funded by the Dew of Hope Foundation, private philanthropists and corporate partners and seeks to reach 300 out-of-school vulnerable girls in Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene, and Ini Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State through ensuring the re-enrolment of the beneficiaries, provision of branded school materials, and support to stay in school. The beneficiaries will also be provided with HIV/AIDS awareness whilst complying with the health protocols issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At a donation event held at the DFortune Pest Solutions Limited office in Ogudu, Lagos, on Friday, August 28, 2020, the expert pest solution and fumigation company donated 504 units of Handigel Hand Sanitizers to be distributed to beneficiaries and support staff during the support programme.

Ayodeji Oluleye, managing director of DFortune,m expressed the desires of his company to contribute by way of corporate social responsibility to align with the positive initiative of the Dew of Hope Foundation.

“I am happy and fortunate to be a partner in this programme. Every child is our child and it is our duty to ensure that they resume their education in a condition that is safe, especially in view of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Oluleye said.

Churchill Kalu, trustee secretary and project implementation consultant, Dew of Hope Foundation, who spoke while receiving the donation on behalf of the Foundation, expressed delight in the charitable heart of Oluleye and his team and emphasised the Foundation’s belief in seeking out partnerships to drive change in the community.

Kalu explained that the programme would be implemented upon the core of Selfless Service, Transparency and Accountability.

“The programme ably supported by DFortune Pest Solutions Limited will be yet another fulfilment of the vision of the Dew of Hope Foundation to become the foundation of choice for driving humanitarian advocacy, assistance and economic empowerment and sustainable development agenda in Nigeria,” Kalu said.

Peter Ayewoh, chief commercial manager of DFortune Pest Solutions Limited, and Gift Chikere, programme officer, Dew of Hope Foundation, were on ground to witness the donation.

Dew of Hope Foundation is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organisation incorporated under the laws of the Nigeria with the mandate to, among other things, economically empower widows, elderly, disadvantaged youths and vulnerable children in Nigeria to achieve self-sustenance, better healthcare and improved well-being.
